Website privacy
Byte-Case.com is a public informational website for ByteCase by Forensics Byte.
The site does not currently provide user accounts, accept case data, or offer a functioning contact form. Standard hosting, security, and traffic-measurement services may process limited technical information such as IP address, browser type, requested pages, timestamps, and security events.
No sensitive case information should be submitted through this website.
ByteCase Tools
Current standalone ByteCase Tools are intended to operate locally and create records within user-controlled storage locations.
Each module’s documentation and release notes should state whether that version:
- Sends information over a network
- Collects telemetry
- Checks for updates
- Stores recent-case history
- Writes temporary files
- Connects to an external service
No ByteCase module should silently transmit case information.
Users remain responsible for reviewing each release, testing it in their own environment, and following agency policy before using it in an operational workflow.
GitHub
Links to GitHub are provided for source code, releases, issue reporting, and development transparency. GitHub applies its own privacy practices when users visit or interact with its services.
Do not place evidence, passwords, protected investigative information, or sensitive personal information in a public GitHub issue.
Future forms and services
A feedback form may be added later. Before it is activated, this page will be updated to describe:
- What information the form collects
- Why the information is collected
- Where submissions are delivered
- How long submissions may be retained
- Whether third-party services process the submission
Questions
Until a dedicated feedback form is available, privacy or security concerns related to a specific tool may be raised through that tool’s GitHub repository without including sensitive information.
